Why the same 10 kVA costs four times as much

1. Relay or servo — the single biggest jump

Our relay stabilizers run ₹16,210–₹33,620. Servo units start at ₹39,558. That step is the biggest single line in the table, and it buys you a different kind of correction.

A relay stabilizer switches between fixed transformer taps. Correction is instantaneous and the electronics are simple, but the output moves in steps — you land inside a safe band, not on an exact figure. For a fridge, TV, washing machine or air conditioner that is completely sufficient, and it is what the overwhelming majority of Indian homes should buy.

A servo stabilizer drives a motorised variac with a control circuit that continuously hunts for 230V, holding output to about ±1%. Correction is smooth rather than stepped. That matters for CNC machines, medical and laboratory equipment, lifts, printing presses and anything where a 15V step upsets the load. It is an industrial answer to an industrial problem, and paying servo money to protect a domestic fridge is money wasted.

2. Input voltage range

A stabilizer can only correct what it can catch. Our relay range covers 130–270V, 90–300V, 50–270V and 100–500V, and the wider the window the more winding and switching the unit needs.

Buy for the worst voltage you actually see, not the average. A narrow-range unit on a bad feeder spends the summer in cut-off.

3. Air cooled or oil cooled

Air-cooled units are lighter, cheaper and correct for domestic and light commercial duty. Oil-cooled units immerse the transformer, run far cooler under sustained full load, and last longer where the stabilizer works hard all day. In our servo range, oil cooling is the difference between ₹39,558 and ₹55,951.

4. Winding material

Copper windings have lower resistance than aluminium, so they run cooler and lose less energy as heat over a long life. In our servo range copper adds roughly ₹8,000–₹14,000. Our mainline stabilizers instead use a toroidal transformer — a doughnut-shaped core with lower losses, cooler running and much less hum than a conventional laminated core. What will a 10 kVA stabilizer actually run?

Mainline or point-of-use?

A mainline stabilizer sits at the distribution board and protects every socket in the house from a single box. A point-of-use unit protects one appliance. How to choose in four questions
